We are excited to have you join us on our horse racing journey.


Whether you are a stallion owner, a mare owner our goal is the same, to breed a champion.


An Once of Blood focuses on exploring breeding patterns in the Australian and New Zealand thoroughbred racehorse.


Our newsletter aims to provide you with valuable information, strategies and insights to help you achieve your breeding goals.

Its that time of the year again when many mare owners are choosing who will be a mate for their mare.


The importance of these decisions cannot be underestimated. The consequences of a failed matings can be felt financially for years.


The opposite also being true, a successful mating, bringing not just the thrill of winning, but the possibility that it can change your lifestyle as well.


So how often does a stallion produce a Group One winner.


With just over 200 stallions standing in both Australia and New Zealand with runners on the race track, approximately 50% of these have yet to produce a Group One winner.


Of those who have the table below shows the average number of runners it takes each stallion to produce a Group One winner (Frequency )

It should be noted the above stats are for a runners only and does not include a stallions total foal crop.


In many cases 15 to 20 % of any given crop do not make it to the race track, or are not proceeded with after several trial performances.
